An offer for researchers to spend time for writing/work at Ingmar Bergman's properties, Fårö

Uppsala University has an agreement with the “Bergmangårdarna Foundation”. The agreement offers researchers from the university to stay and work up to one week in Ingmar Bergman's properties at Fårö, Gotland.

Researchers with employment at Uppsala University who are interested in spending time at Fårö in the spring or autumn of 2020 can now apply for this. PhD students can also apply. PhD students are though offered a stay, subject to availability.

The university has access to one of the houses, the wing-building at Dämba at Fårö. The house has two bedrooms, a living-room, bathroom and kitchen and thus accommodates 2-4 researchers. It is self-catering (the house have a fully equipped kitchen). The accommodation is free of charge for the researcher/s.

The properties are located in a beautiful area on Fårö, about an hour drive from Visby. You must arrange the transport to Dämba yourself.

The house is available from March to October with the exception of last week in June and all of July. The availability is also limited in late June and early August.

The application is quiet simple. A short description of your academic background, current employment (you need to have employment at Uppsala University) and a brief description of the purpose of your stay at Bergmangårdarna. There are usually many researchers interested in this offer so, if possible, suggest alternative weeks for your stay.

You might also be invited to Campus Gotland during your stay at Fårö. This for example to give a lecture, attend seminars, meet research colleagues etc.

Applications are processed continuously by the Planning Council for Campus Gotland and you send your application by e-mail to:
